A release from JSU on Thursday said authorities got a warrant to search the University Pointe residential facility after suspicious activity caught their attention during a routine safety check. That warrant uncovered $10,000 in suspected counterfeit cash, as well as some drugs.

Jeffery Johnson, 22, of Chicago, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia; and Roderick Hibbler, 19, of Jackson, and Khalil Anderson, 21, of Tunica, were both charged with possession of weapons on school property, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

"I want to congratulate Chief Thomas Albright and the JSU Department of Public Safety for their outstanding professionalism and dedication to duty in this investigation," Interim JSU President Dr. Rod Paige said. "This highlights the effectiveness of our law enforcement personnel in keeping the campus community safe and serves notice to others who may want to come on this campus to engage in criminal activity."

The suspects are being held in the Hinds County Detention Center in Raymond, but their mugshots have not yet been posted to the website.

The case remains under investigation by JSU’s Public Safety, and the U.S. Secret Service Agency will probe the allegations of counterfeit money.
