Columbus man shot after Saturday fight

A 25-year-old Columbus man is hospitalized after being shot in a Saturday night argument, police said.

A release from Columbus Police Department said three men were allegedly involved in an argument on Saturday, and then resumed  later that evening when the victim was shot at the corner of 17th Street South and Bell Avenue around 11:30 p.m.

The victim, whose identity is not being released, was shot once in the upper torso, officials said.

The victim was taken first to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus and then later flown by helicopter to Tupelo where he remains hospitalized in unknown condition.

Investigators are seeking more information from the public and anyone who knows more about this crime is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-530-7151.
