Jackson officer stops holiday traffic for a different reason

A Jackson officer was stopping holiday traffic Friday, spreading holiday cheer.

Cassandra Welchlin caught Officer Brandon Caston handing out Christmas cards  in traffic on Friday.

JPD officer Brandon Caston was caught on camera when Cassandra Welchlin apparently turned her car around to get the video of the officer standing in the middle of the road.

"I was driving down Flag Chapel when a JPD officer whom I thought was cking license, was instead giving Christmas cheer!! Now this is protecting and serving," she wrote.

Caston, a two-year veteran of JPD, was handing Christmas cards to motorists as they drove by.

Inside the card, Isaiah 9:6 was inscribed, along with the message, "Have a blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year."

It was signed, "Officer B. Caston."

Caston was awarded "Officer of the Month" in March when he was instrumental in the arrest of Gregory Hines and Deontae Paige in a string of carjackings.
