Vice President-elect Mike Pence will spend the Thanksgiving holiday in Mississippi where his son, who is a Marine, is stationed.

Pence will head south either Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning for the visit with one of his three children, the presidential transition team told media on Monday.

Neither the Mississippi Republican Party nor Gov. Phil Bryant's office had details of the trip immediately, or whether the vice president-elect would make any public appearance.

Pence's son, Marine 2nd Lt. Michael J. Pence, had recently been stationed near Pensacola, training to be a Marine pilot and had been with Training Air Wing Five, learning to fly the T-6 B Texan II training aircraft, according to the Pensacola News Journal. He is now stationed at Naval Air Station Meridian with Training Air Wing One, a station spokeswoman said, but she said she knew of no scheduled visit from the vice president-elect to the base.

The younger Pence had previously attended Purdue University.

President-elect Donald Trump will spend Thanksgiving thawing out at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, aides said Monday.
