The incident occurred just hours before another MSU student, Joseph Tillman of Schlater, was shot after an armed robbery early Sunday.

Emily Case, age unknown, of Virginia, has been upgraded to fair condition from critical as of Monday morning, UMMC officials said.

Jaleen Jenkins, 22, is accused of driving the vehicle that hit Case. He is charged with aggravated DUI, driving on suspended license and no insurance.

Authorities told WCBI's Salena Schaffer that the incident took place around 11 p.m. Saturday on Blackjack Road near the Hardy Road intersection.

Oktibbeha County deputies told Schaffer that Case was taken to OCH Regional Medical Center then flown to Jackson.
