5 injured in rollover wreck on US 49

Five people have been injured in a wreck on US 49 south of Star Road, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Five people were injured in a rollover wreck on Highway 49 Sunday.

Highway Patrol spokesman Eric Henry said in a release Sunday that a Ford Explorer was traveling northbound when the tire blew out and the driver lost control of the SUV. The vehicle overturned in the median.

There were three children and two adults in the Explorer, Henry said.

The front passenger, an adult female, was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The other four passengers were taken to UMMC with injuries as well.
