Funeral set for Hinds prosecutor Sherri Flowers-Billups

Funeral arraignments have been set for Hinds County’s first female prosecutor, Sherri Marie Flowers-Billups. She died Tuesday at 48 years old.

Flowers-Billups was picked to as Hinds County Attorney in 2009 to serve out the term of Malcolm Harrison, who took over former Circuit Judge Bobby DeLaughter's seat.  Flowers-Billups had been battling cancer since 2005.

Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. at Westhaven Funeral Home located at 3580 Robinson Road in Jackson.

The funeral service will be Saturday, Oct. 8 at 3 p.m. at Morrison Heights Baptist Church located at 3000 Hampstead Boulevard in Clinton.

In lieu of flowers, Flowers-Billups’ family is asking for donations to the Katherine Murriel Education Fund.
