A Brandon doctor and his girlfriend were arrested last week after being charged with trafficking and sale of a controlled substance.

Dr. Steven Tincher and his girlfriend Lindsay Peacock were both arrested in Brandon on drug trafficking charges.

Brandon Police Chief William Thompson said in a news release Tuesday afternoon that Dr. Steven Tincher was taken into custody at Merit Health Rankin in Brandon on Thursday by members of the Brandon Police Department's narcotics unit, the Drug Enforcement Agency, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the Mississippi Board of Medical Licensure.

Tincher was charged with two counts of trafficking a controlled substance and one count of sale of a controlled substance. The release stated that the "charges stem from the abuse of his privilege to write and issue prescriptions."

Lindsay Peacock, Tincher's girlfriend, was arrested at the home they share on Linwood Drive in Brandon and faces the same charges as the physician.

Tincher is out of jail on a $100,000 bond. Peacock remains in the Rankin County jail, and a hold has been placed on her by the Mississippi Department of Corrections for possible parole revocation.
