Construction worker falls, dies at convention center

A construction worker in Vicksburg died Tuesday after falling from the roof of the city's convention center, an official said.

Vicksburg Police Chief Walter Armstrong said details are sketchy, but the incident happened around lunch time.

"We're not sure how it happened other than the fact it did happen," he said.

The victim was working with at least one roofer, but it's unclearwhether anyone actually witnessed the fall. Armstrong said that will be determined through the investigation.

The victim was born in 1988, Armstrong said, but his identity has not been released because his family is from out of town and authorities are trying to locate and notify them.
