Jackson County deputies look for man in homicide case

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is looking for the public's help in identifying a man who may know something about or have been involved in a homicide.

Authorities say Dee Whigham, of Shubuta, appears to have been stabbed over the weekend at the Best Western Hotel in St Martin. A man was caught on surveillance video near the scene, officials said, and anyone who thinks they might recognize him or has any other information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.

Whigham was visiting the coast with friends and coworkers to attend the 7th Annual Gulf Coast Black Rodeo at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi over the weekend.

Whigham has been sent for autopsy, officials said.

The investigation is ongoing and details will be released as they become available.
