A man and a woman are being detained by Jackson police as suspects in a Holmes County homicide.

Jackson Police Department officials said Donald Wilson, 29, and Marquita Steadman, 32, will be extradited to Holmes County to face charges. JPD confirmed that the two were suspects in an early Sunday shooting outside a Holmes County nightclub.

Tchula Police Chief Kenneth Hampton said Christopher Robinson, 43, was shot outside the club around 3 a.m.

Wilson will face first degree murder charges, Hampton said, and other charges could be pending as well. Hampton said so far it appears that Steadman was in the vehicle with Wilson but didn't have a part in the shooting.

"As far as I can see, it was a drug transaction that went bad," Hampton said. "The place was closed already, and the people were gathered up. The guy that did the shooting was already there, and Robinson pulls up and from what we could see, some drugs traded hands.

Hampton said there is video footage of the incident.

"It's cut and dry," he said.

Hampton said Wilson and Steadman will be transported back to Holmes County.
