MSU walk-on Deshun Dixon arrested for DUI

STARKVILLE - Mississippi State freshman Deshun Dixon was arrested Sunday and charged with driving under the influence Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Office records confirmed.

The Starkville Daily News first reported the walk-on's arrest that occurred early Sunday morning.

Mississippi State had no comment on the arrest. MSU coach Dan Mullen is in Georgia competing in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge golf tournament. Mississippi State's official spring roster lists Dixon as an athlete. He played wide receiver during the spring.

Dixon is the youngest of four brothers. He's the third brother to play for MSU. Anthony Dixon is Mississippi State's all-time leading rusher. Rashun Dixon is currently a sophomore tight end.

The arrest continues a loud offseason for Mississippi State.

It began on March 13 when the Bulldogs' leading wide receiver De'Runnya Wilson was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana second degree and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The following week the Clarion-Ledger reported the arrest of redshirt freshman offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins on a warrant for simple assault.

"Any time that any of our players are accused of anything we thoroughly investigate," Mullen said of Wilson and Jenkins' arrests. "We don't rush to the headlines and all that stuff. We want to get a full, thorough investigation of what goes on. You know, cooperate with all the authorities involved and get to the bottom of the reality of situations. Then we'll look at discipline issues. And we'll handle all that internally."
