Buffalo Bills running back Anthony Dixon (26) celebrates after scoring a touchdown during the first half of the game against the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium. The Bills won the preseason game, 20-18.

Anthony Dixon is returning to Mississippi during his bye week in the NFL.

The former Mississippi State running back will be in his hometown of Terry on Friday night. His alma mater will honor Dixon during halftime of its game.

Dixon is then expected to be in Starkville for No. 1 Mississippi State's matchup with Arkansas at 6:15 p.m.

"We'll see if he stops by and sees me. I grind on him still. I mean I'm tough on the players," Mullen said. "He showed up one day chunky, I didn't let him leave until he got a workout in in the weight room. He had to go do some cardio before he was allowed to leave."

Dixon lettered for Mississippi State from 2006-09. The former Bulldog is the school's all time career leader in rushing with 3,994 yards. He also set the single season record at 1,391. He still holds the top two marks in rushing attempts in a single season in 2007 and 2009.

The yards also come with his personality, which fans in the NFL have gravitated towards in San Francisco and now Buffalo.

"He walks into the room and he's always upbeat, he's always excited," Mullen said. "In the same way that he's funny, he comes in and he's got a little spirit about him that you can feel. And that energy, that's given-off to people."
