Lincoln County worker killed in dump truck wreck, fire

A Lincoln County road crew member was killed in a wreck in a county dump truck, officials said.

Swayze Hamilton, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene after a fiery crash on Calvary Road near Bogue Chitto. It appears his dump truck left the road, hit a tree and caught on fire, according to Lincoln County Sheriff Steve Rushing.

The accident occurred just before 11 a.m. on Monday.

Details are sparse, as the accident is under investigation, said Deputy Coroner John Riggs. Hamilton has been sent to the State Crime Lab for autopsy.

Riggs said Hamilton was identified by his supervisor.
