It doesn't take a committee to show that Mississippi State and Florida State are top contenders for the No. 1 spot atop the College Football Playoff rankings.

The two are the final undefeated teams in the major Power 5 conferences -- ACC, SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12.

MSU tops both the AP and coaches polls. FSU is No. 2 in both polls.

Predictionmachine.com has another method to show why Mississippi State is No. 1. The site ran 50,000 simulations on how Florida State would fare playing MSU's schedule.

The results showed the Seminoles finishing with an 8.3-3.7 record. They would be favored in nine games, with a 0.24 percent chance of finishing the season undefeated.

The site gives Mississippi State a 9.3 percent chance of winning out. It lists MSU as underdogs against Alabama and Ole Miss. According to Predictmachine.com, MSU has a 48 percent chance of winning at Oxford. The number drops to 35 percent in Tuscaloosa.

Florida State currently owns the nation's longest winning streak at 23 games. Mississippi State is second at 10 games.
