Man dies after McComb bar fight

A man is dead after an altercation at Upper Deck Sports Bar in McComb, police said.

Shaun Wallace, 25, of Bogue Chitto, was found unresponsive after being beaten after a fight, according to a release from Detective Sydney Boyte.

The call came in around 10:45 p.m. at Upper Deck Sports Bar in McComb. He was pronounced dead shortly afterward by Pike County Coroner Percy Pittman.

"I don't know if he was hit with a pool stick or if he was choked to death," said Pittman.

He's waiting on autopsy results to see what the actual cause of death was. Pittman said he got the call around midnight, and referred to the fight as a "major" altercation.

Employees and patrons tried to separate the men who were fighting, the release said. The victim was then hit by a white male after the fight had been stopped. That person then fled the scene, police said.

Police are looking for that suspect for questioning.

Other individuals were also treated for injuries from the fight.

Wallace's body was taken to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
