Police say a woman accused of shooting a man in a Pearl mobile home park will not face charges.

"It appears this was an act of self-defense," said Pearl police spokesman Capt. Brian McGairty.

The shooting took place at the Southern Gardens Mobile Home Park in Pearl, police said.

McGairty confirmed Justin Deshaun Jenkins, 25, was shot Tuesday morning and has died as a result. Police got the call around 7:40 a.m., McGairty said.

The woman accused of shooting Jenkins was taken into custody for questioning. A 3-year-old child who was at the home was not harmed and is in DHS custody.

The case will be sent to the Rankin County Grand Jury next month.

This is a developing story.
