Man shot, killed at Graceland Too by owner

The owner of Graceland Too, a 24-hour Elvis Presley tourist attraction in Holly Springs, reportedly shot and killed a man who forced his way into the home and demanded money.

Business owner Paul MacLeod heard banging at his front door around 11 p.m., MacLeod's attorney, Phillip Knecht, said in a news release.

When MacLeod opened his door, a man broke the glass, forced his way inside and demanded money, Knecht said.

Dwight David Taylor, 28, was shot with a single .45-caliber bullet in the chest, according to the Northwest Mississippi Daily Journal.

Holly Springs police told the Daily Journal that MacLeod will not face charges.

According to the police, Taylor knocked on the front door asking for money, but MacLeod denied his request and attempted to close the door. Taylor tried to keep the door open with his foot, which is when the shooting is alleged to have occurred.

MacLeod's home is located in downtown Holly Springs and doubles as a monument for Elvis Presley. It is a popular tourist destination for college students in surrounding areas.

The Marshall County coroner told the Daily Journal that Taylor's body was found just inside the front door.

"Mr. MacLeod and Graceland Too are fully cooperating with the local law enforcement in this matter. The investigation is in the earliest stages and is continuing," Knecht said in the news release.

Until further notice, Graceland Too will not be open to visitors, Knecht said.
