Mississippi 2nd highest post Obamacare uninsured rate

Noting "a lot of talk but not a lot of real information" comparing states by insurance coverage rates, WalletHub has released its 2014 Health Insurance Coverage Report offering an initial projection of uninsured rates post Affordable Care Act.

Mississippi's uninsured rate remains near the top (second highest in the country. Other findings on Mississippi from the report:

Health Insurance Coverage in Mississippi

  • 21.46% of population lacks health insurance.
  • 29.73% of population under 64 is on Medicaid.
  • 61,494 individuals enrolled in private health insurance plans under Obamacare.
  • 118,805 decrease in the number of individuals enrolled in Medicaid between Summer 2013 and April 2014.
