Noon bomb threat at Hattiesburg High School
Law enforcement and Hattiesburg Public School District officials decided no evacuation was necessary after a bomb threat was called in to Hattiesburg High School around noon today.
"We got a bomb threat phone call to Hattiesburg High and consulted with Hattiesburg Police Department and decided it didn't warrant an evacuation," said district communications director Jas N Smith.
Smith said the school was locked down and students were held in their classrooms while officials conducted a 30-minute search.
"They searched with the police department, the fire department and school personnel. They didn't find anything, so they gave the all-clear," he said.
Media outlets in Mississippi reported bomb threats at various districts around the state, including in Jefferson Davis, Simpson, Hinds and Tishomingo counties.
