Rebels center Robert Conyers is out for the season with a torn ACL.

OXFORD — Ole Miss center Robert Conyers will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn left ACL, head coach Hugh Freeze said during his weekly press conference Monday.

Conyers suffered the injury in last Saturday’s 37-24 loss to Memphis in what Freeze described as Conyers’ “good knee.” The junior had been battling a right knee injury the past few weeks that was going to limit him to two days’ worth of practice for the near future.

He didn’t start against the Tigers, the second consecutive game he didn’t start, but replaced starting right tackle Sean Rawlings in the first quarter.

Conyers suffered his injury in the first half against the Tigers and was helped off the field with two athletic trainers, who tended to him for several moments on the sideline before putting ice on his knee. He left the field on crutches.

The No. 24 Rebels (5-2, 2-1) will see a dramatic overhaul of their offensive line in Saturday’s 6 p.m. home game against No. 15 Texas A&M (5-1, 2-1).

Left tackle Laremy Tunsil has completed his seven-game suspension for accepting impermissible benefits, and his return shifts Fahn Cooper to right tackle, his normal position.

The Rebels will use Justin Bell at center, Javon Patterson at left guard and Rod Taylor at right guard. Freeze mentioned Aaron Morris could see time at left guard, Jordan Sims at right guard.
