After a record football season in 2014, Mississippi State plans to begin 2015 in the same fashion.

MSU announced its plans to set a Guinness World Record for most cowbells rung at the same time on Sept. 10 during Cowbell Yell.

The event acts as a pep rally to Mississippi State's first home game of the season on Sept. 12 against LSU.

The announcement came via a YouTube video promoting Bulldog Bash 2015. MSU football coach Dan Mullen narrated the video and said the school expects 15,000 fans to attend Cowbell Yell at Davis Wade Stadium.

That total would obliterate the current record.

According to Guinness, the largest cowbell ensemble was 640 people on Sept. 6, 2009 in Switzerland. That record may no longer stand, though. According to the Associated Press, 1,021 people rang cowbells at the Cowbell Classic 10K and 5K run on Aug. 1 in Royal Oak, Michigan.

The Cowbell Classic announced its desire to break the world record in early July. The news excited Bulldog fans, who believed Mississippi State should attempt the record at a football game.
