Coroner Dexter Howard said Edward James Randle, 34, was found stabbed on Brozeville Road in Lexington on Sunday.

Howard got the call around 12:30 p.m., he said. Randle's body has been sent to the state crime lab for autopsy.

Sheriff Willie March said Randle's girlfriend is believed to have been the attacker, and she turned herself in to authorities on Sunday afternoon.

March said his office has dealt with Randle and the girlfriend before, and that he believes the situation to be related to domestic violence.

"Domestic violence is a dangerous situation to get into," March said.

This is a developing story.
