Mississippi State wide receiver De'Runnya Wilson and quarterback Elijah Staley are also on the basketball roster.

De'Runnya Wilson and Elijah Staley are listed on both the Mississippi State football and basketball rosters.

Wilson played both football and basketball last year. Freshman Elijah Staley planned on playing both when he signed with the Bulldogs last year.

"I haven't bothered coach (Dan) Mullen at all," MSU coach Rick Ray said. "He's got the No. 1 ranked team in the country. I don't want to do anything to screw that up."

Ray plans to sit down with Mullen, Wilson and Staley at the end of the season to discuss the duo's future.

Wilson played in seven games last year after Mississippi State's football season. He logged seven minutes per game scoring 0.9 points per game and grabbing 1.6 boards.

"I kind of do," Wilson said when asked if he misses playing basketball. "But it's all about football now. I'm loving football, the atmosphere of it. I enjoy the time and the chemistry of the Mississippi State football team."

Wilson won the Mr. Basketball in Alabama as a senior. Staley was a three-star basketball talent.

"We've gotta sit down when it's all said and done and figure out what's best for each individual person," Ray said. "To me that's a discussion we'll have once the season is over with."

Last year Mississippi State needed Wilson due to a lack of depth. With five new faces this season, need no longer exists.

"The other element you put in there is how they're doing academically," Ray said. "To me it's hard enough being a student athlete playing one sport."
