Anti-Initiative 42 ad is a load of horse crap

There's been a lot of dirty politics on both sides of the Initiative 42 fight, but this is the lowest blow yet.

A new ad by Improve Mississippi Political Initiative Committee is the worst kind of scare tactic and downright lie yet used.

The ad continues the tired trope of "one liberal Hinds County judge" being able to make all the decisions. Never mind that the Legislature has already prescribed that if someone sues a state agency the case is going to be in Hinds County. That's too inconvenient of a fact to admit.

But what really burns me is the claim in this ad that a judge will be able to take money from one school and give it to another. That's complete horse crap!

There are enough valid arguments to make for and against Initiative 42. Stop with the lies and scare tactics. And while we're on the topic, stop with the innuendo. Either say what you mean or shut up. Come on out and say, "That Hinds County judge is going to take money from your schools and give it to the Jackson schools." Because that's EXACTLY what the ad wants people to think, and that's the lowest kind of politics there is.

I've not been a proponent of Initiative 42. In fact, I've been open about my concerns over Initiative 42. But the more downright untruths and despicable politics that come from those opposed to Initiative 42, the less I worry about possible implications and the more I want to see these tactics fail. I can promise you that I'm not alone, so perhaps opponents should consider that.
