Last game: Mississippi State lost 73-67 on the road to UMKC. Malik Newman scored a career-high 18 points but it wasn’t enough to bring MSU its first road win of the season. The Bulldogs led by three with three minutes remaining. The offense struggled thereafter scoring three points the rest of the way.

What’s at stake: Mississippi State could drop to 1-4 away from Humphrey Coliseum. The Bulldogs are already 0-1 in true road games this season. Senior starter Travis Daniels will miss the game with a concussion. I.J. Ready is questionable with turf toe.

Who are these guys?: Ben Howland compared the Seminoles to another Florida team MSU faced this season: Miami. Florida State has the advantage in size and has won four of five since slipping up against Hofstra. The loss since came on the road in overtime to a solid Iowa club.

KenPom.com prediction: Florida State 83-71. Mississippi State 14 percent chance of winning.
