OXFORD - Ole Miss defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche's status for the Sugar Bowl remains uncertain, but what's known is that he can play the saxophone.

The junior performed at the Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale on Thursday night with older brother Bryan on the guitar and another band member. They ate dinner at the club before playing two songs as part of the club's weekly open jam, according to manager Ashley Sullinger, who added it was their first time playing and that she would love to have them back.

"They knew who it was," Sullinger said. "He's hard to miss. They were (surprised). Nobody really knew he played sax. They were good. All of them were good. He was a super nice guy."

Robert's jam session comes three days after being charged with possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor.

Police found seven rolled marijuana cigarettes in a hotel room linked to Nkemdiche, according to a report released Monday. He had been taken to a local hospital after falling approximately 15 feet Saturday night, according to a report released Sunday.

Coach Hugh Freeze said Nkemdiche required stitches in his legs and back and had a swollen ankle. Freeze wanted to have a conversation with Nkemdiche before determining whether to play his star against Oklahoma State.
