RAYMOND, Miss. - Authorities have recaptured two of four inmates who escaped from the Hinds County Detention Center in Raymond.

The Hinds County Sheriff's Department said via a press release that the inmates escaped about 12:45 a.m. Monday.

Jermaine Wilson, 19, was arrested in Jackson around 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Kevin Holmes, 18, was captured on Tuesday near Leavell Woods Park in South Jackson.

"Based on very aggressive police work and the diligent help of the citizens of Hinds County, we were able to follow this lead and place this individual back into custody," said Tyrone Lewis, Sheriff of Hinds County. "I feel confident that we will apprehend the other two escapees soon."

The remaining inmates are Montreal Damon Anderson, 25, and John Rollins, 23.

"This investigation continues and we will get to the bottom of it...we won't stop until it is done," Lewis said.

Wilson is charged with capital murder. He is accused in a 2012 rape and killing of a Jackson woman.

Holmes faces three counts of armed robbery, and Rollins is charged with auto theft and false pretense. Both men also face charges of malicious mischief.

Anderson is charged with recovered stolen property and is jailed on a felony hold.

"Based on our preliminary investigation we are inclined to believe that this was a prearranged and preplanned escape," Hinds County Sheriff's Department spokesman Othor Cain said.

The Hinds County Warrants Division and the U.S. Marshals Task Force are still searching for the three remaining inmates, officials said.

Surrounding jurisdictions are keeping their eyes open for the escaped inmates as well. Raymond and Hinds Community College are the two closest jurisdictions to the detention center.

"Usually when we’re notified we’ll go to the facility and ask if there’s anything they need help with there, and we circulate the area and keep our eye out for them," Raymond Chief Jason Crotwell said.

HCC Police Department Chief Bart Evans said they make sure to be extremely visible when there's a breakout to make sure the public knows they are protected.

"When we hear there are missing inmates or work detail personnel, we first verify how many, whether they are on foot or in a vehicle, and any other information they can provide," Evans said. "Then we make sure we go where Highway 18 and the wooded area and make sure there’s a strong presence there."

But neither Crotwell or Evans knew about the Monday breakout until lunch time, they said. Crotwell said he wasn't notified until 11 a.m., and Evans said he had to contact the jail to find out more.

"There was never a clear explanation as to why we weren't notified. They were still trying to count heads when we contacted them," he said.

The escapes follow last week's mistaken release of two prisoners from the Raymond jail. Officials blamed the release of Tyrone Gardner and Raphael Graves on a paperwork error. Both men are back behind bars.
