A California company at the center of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention investigation involving a multi state salmonella outbreak - linked to imported cucumbers- distributed its product in Mississippi.

As of Tuesday, Mississippi was not listed among the 33 states reporting the particular strain of the Salmonella Poona infection.

On its website, the CDC said cucumbers grown in Mexico and sold in the U.S. by Andrew & Williamson Fresh Produce were the "likely source" of the outbreak.

The CDC advised that customers unsure if their cucumbers were recalled should ask the place of purchase.

"When in doubt, don’t eat, sell, or serve them and throw them out," the CDC said.

Three deaths and more than 500 cases have been reported.
