Jackson police are investigating the discovery of a body in a partially submerged car near a mobile home park off Linde Road.

Jackson police and firefighters at Linde Aire mobile home park where a body was found in a partially submerged car.

JPD spokeswoman Colendula Green said police got the call just before 1 p.m. that there was a body at 1500 Linde Dr.

The body, she said, is that of an older black male, but it is badly decomposed, so an immediate identification is not possible.

"Right now we're coding it as a death pending the autopsy results," she said.

Linde Aire mobile home park manager Richard Bonney said there's a place up the road that tends to flood when rains are heavy. Bonney said he thought it was possible that the vehicle had washed down the creek during the storms on Tuesday.

It's too early to tell how long the body may have been in the water or if there are signs of foul play, Green said.

The body was found by some men who were "tracking in the woods," Green said.

Green said the missing persons unit will be looking into the death.

"It's a possibility that a driver lost control on a road or that another incident could have taken place," she said.
