An alleged would-be bank robber didn't make it out of the bank before his crime was cut short by a watchful security guard.

Jackson Police Department spokeswoman Colendula Green said the man walked into the Trustmark Bank on Highway 18 and handed a note to a teller. She gave him an undisclosed sum of money, Green said, and the man walked toward the door.

Before he could even get out of the bank, the security guard stopped him and detained him until police showed up.

His name has not been released, Green said, but the suspect is 35 years old. It was the metro area's second bank robbery in two days.
