CRYSTAL SPRINGS, Miss. - A Copiah County sand and gravel processor is paying a $45,000 civil fine because of air pollution violations.

Green Brothers Gravel Co. agreed to pay the fine to the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality. The regulator cited Green Brothers for 11 violations over the operation of gravel pit near Crystal Springs in 2014, saying the company had failed meet air emissions standards by a 2013 deadline. The department also found Green Brothers failed to monitor emissions, keep records, and report deviations.

Green Brothers is based in Crystal Springs.

Andrew Donahoe, the president of Green Brothers, signed the May 22 order agreeing to waive hearing rights and pay the fine.
