Restaurant report
Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) inspectors “awarded” a C to a local high school, a McDonald’s and a steak and seafood restaurant in the metro area this week. Has this piqued your interest? C is the worse grade given.
A C rating indicates that critical violations were found, but some or all were not corrected during the inspection. The facility will be re-inspected, and all violations must be corrected in a time period not to exceed 10 days. The re-inspection date is posted on the graded report. If violations are not corrected in the specified time, steps are taken to suspend the facility’s permit to operate.
A grade of C is also given if critical violations are repeated from the last inspection, even if they were corrected at that time.

When you walk into a restaurant or any food facility, look for the posted inspection grade. You now know what a C means. A facility with an A inspection grade is one in which no critical violations were found.
If a B grade is given to a facility, critical violations were found, but corrected under the supervision of the inspecting environmentalist. No further corrective actions are required.
You can go to the MSDH restaurant inspections page to see how your favorite restaurant is currently graded.
